Latest NewsPictured here is the new iGen 4 DPI have become the first print company in Europe to purchase a Xerox Colour 1000 A3 digital printing press. D&PI’s spend of almost a third of a million pounds propels them forward to become one of the largest cut sheet digital printers in the country. D&PI entered the digital print arena two years ago with a Xerox 700 entry level digital press supplied by Bytes Documents Solutions - Xerox’s largest reseller. It was Bytes who organised an open day for D&PI to show off the press, variable data software, and a web2print solution which were all purchased at the same time.
Xerox, realising the potential growth in the business, offered to fly Phil to New York to Xerox’s headquarters to view the top secret new press that was about to be launched at IPEX, a major print show at the NEC Birmingham. The press was hidden away in the depths of Xerox’s Rochester site, which is about twice the size of a normal business park. It is an amazing press which can print 100 pages per minute in four colours both sides of the sheet in one pass and also delivers a unique clear spot gloss as a fifth colour. This clear dry ink offers watermarking to the sheet and pastel colours can be made to look metallic or pearlescent with images "popping" off the sheet. The decision was made to purchase the press off the stand at the NEC on the first day of the show. Existing customers, marketers and Design Agencies will love the stunning effects and print quality that can be achieved from the Xerox Colour 1000 press alongside our web2print solution Print-on-line24.com. Phil Hammond, managing director of D&PI, recalls the event was an outstanding success, to such an extent that the business grew 20% in a recession year. “We quickly exceeded the monthly print volumes on the 700 and as a result two Xerox 7002 presses were added.
